BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s girls’ varsity tennis team beat Stephen Decatur, 6-1, this week in a battle between crosstown rivals.
Against the Seahawks, Worcester got singles wins from Isabel Carulli, Fiona Reid, Sarah Koon and Anchita Batra. Winning doubles matches for the Mallards against the Seahawks were the teams of Natalie Twilley and Erika Smith along with Eva Parks and Stormy McGuinness. Delaney Iacona recorded the lone singles win for the Seahawks.
For Decatur, the loss to Worcester was tempered with a win over Washington. The Seahawks edged Washington, 4-3. Calias Rodriguez and Mattie Friedman won single matches, while two teams won their doubles matches. The team of Claire Esham and Brittany Wangel won their doubles match against the Jaguars, as did the doubles team of Mallary Vara and Jessie Lupiwok.
