Certification Earned
OCEAN PINES – Peninsula Home Care, an award winning, locally based home care agency, announced the certification of branch director Nancy Bagwell in Chronic Disease Self-Management.

“With the right tools, knowledge and guidance, people can take their health into their own hands,” said Bagwell. “I look forward to empowering people to make changes that will improve their health and quality of life.”
Bagwell completed a week-long course at MAC Incorporated to earn the Chronic Disease Certification. In addition to providing educational workshops to the public, free of charge, Bagwell is also licensed to train other Peninsula Home Care nurses and therapists to become certified in Chronic Disease Self-Management.
“I recently hosted a workshop where two women befriended each other and ultimately started working out together,” said Bagwell. “The group setting provides encouragement so people are empowered to reach specific goals and positive outcomes. They really find themselves in a place where they are accountable to each other. The beauty of it is that the participants connect with each other in addition to learning the steps they need to take to manage their disease.”
The Chronic Disease Self-Management workshops provide tools, resources and training to the community to help improve health and lower health care costs to those suffering from chronic illnesses. The goal of the program is to help participants make lifestyle choices and changes, adhere to prescribed medication treatments, and become educated, responsible, informed patients.

Family Medicine Office Opens
SALISBURY — Peninsula Regional Medical Center (PRMC) and its Peninsula Regional Medical Group have announced the Peninsula Regional Family Medicine Salisbury office will open on May 4. The new practice will be located on the lower level of the H. Gray Reeves Medical Building, directly across from PRMC, at 145 East Carroll Street, Suite 101-102 in Salisbury. An open house to introduce the staff and providers to Salisbury and to give the public an opportunity to stop by and tour the practice has been scheduled for April 30 from 4-7 p.m.
Peninsula Regional Family Medicine Salisbury, offering complete family medicine services, will be staffed by Nicole Alu, DO and Tammy Cahall-Walbert, FNP-BC. The practice is now accepting patients of all ages.
As the practice grows, PRMC plans to add additional providers to meet an increasing demand in the Salisbury area for primary care services. The Peninsula Regional Family Medicine Salisbury office, the first primary care practice opened by PRMC in the city in over two decades, will also offer complete on-site laboratory and blood draw services for patients and walk-in’s.
“Having grown up with my father seeing patients in his office located in the front of our house, I have a great appreciation and admiration for primary care physicians,” said Thomas DeMarco, MD, Vice President of Peninsula Regional Medical Group. “This office will be a source of great pride for PRMG and will provide much needed additional healthcare access to our community.”
Head Chef Promotion
REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. — Scott Kammerer, president and CEO of SoDel Concepts, recently announced the promotion of Jason Dietterick to the position of head chef at Bluecoast Seafood Grill in Bethany Beach, one of the hospitality’s group’s eight restaurants in coastal Delaware.

Dietterick started with SoDel Concepts in 2004 and helped founder Matt Haley open three award-winning restaurants before leaving to head up the kitchens in several other popular Delaware restaurants statewide.
“We are so happy to have this talented chef back with our company,” said Kammerer. “The timing was perfect. He was ready to come back to SoDel Concepts and shortly after, the position of head chef opened up. Jason makes really delicious food, and he was an invaluable part of the team when our corporate chef, Doug Ruley, was invited to cook at the James Beard House in New York in March.”
Born in Newark, Del., Dietterick started his culinary career at the Back Burner in Hockessin and he worked for restaurant guru Stephen Starr in Philadelphia. He joined SoDel Concepts after studying at the Culinary Institute of America in Napa, Calif. He’s been the chef-de-cuisine at Liquid Assets in Ocean City and at Solstice Restaurant at the Atlantic Hotel in Berlin. He’s also worked at Nage in Rehoboth Beach and at the Stone Balloon Wine House in Newark.
