Mallards Edge Clippers, Improve To 4-1

BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s boys’ varsity lacrosse team edged Bennett, 9-7, on the road on Tuesday to improve to 4-1 on the season.

The Mallards beat the Clippers, 9-7, behind a scoring attack that featured several players. Sam Cantello led the way with four goals and two assists, while Wyatt Richins scored three goals and added three assists. Tucker Brown and Patrick Petrara each scored one goal and dished out one assist. Ross Dickerson won 14 face-offs and grabbed nine ground balls, while Wade Walter was outstanding in the net with 20 saves.

The win over Bennett completed a solid week for the Mallards, who beat Tower Hill, 8-7, last Thursday. Against Tower Hill, Cantello scored four times and had an assist while Richins and Brown had two goals each. Worcester’s record now stands at 4-1 with the wins over Tower Hill and Bennett along with earlier wins over Wicomico and Parkside. Their only loss came to Washington, D.C. power Bullis School, 17-5, on March 28.
