Holbrook Booked For Ocean City; One-Man Show Documents Twain

OCEAN CITY — Legendary star of stage, screen and television Hal Holbrook is set to bring his one-man play to the Performing Art Center at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center.

Local promoter Bob Rothermel of TEAM Productions has announced that “Hal Holbrook in Mark Twain Tonight” will appear on June 6 at 8 p.m. Tickets will be available at the Convention Center Box Office and all Ticketmaster locations beginning April 9.

With nearly 100 stage credits to his name, Holbrook has appeared in 48 motion picture films, 28 television movies, 11 television mini-series and 23 television specials or series.  He is a five-time Emmy award winner and has received an Academy Award nomination, two SAG award nominations and an additional seven Emmy nominations. In 2003, Holbrook was presented with the National Medal of the Humanities by former President George W. Bush.

The New York Times’ review stated, “Mr. Holbrook’s material is uproarious, his ability to hold an audience by acting is brilliant.” The New York Post wrote, “It’s Brilliant! Everything about the show is perfect.”

Rothermel added, “Mr. Holbrook has received countless accolades and awards for not only this show … which he created … but for his entire body of work.  It is an honor to bring  him to Ocean City’s Performing Arts Center”.
