Worcester Prep Doles Out Post-Season Honors

BERLIN- With the 2014-2015 seasons in the books, the post-season accolades are starting to come in for the Worcester Prep boys’ and girls’ varsity basketball teams.

The Worcester boys had another great season, but fell in a heartbreaker to Delmarva Christian, 29-28, in the Eastern Shore Independent Athletic Conference tournament championship game. Last week, Erik Zorn and Elio Telo were named to ESIAC Second-Team All-Conference, while Owen Nally and Tucker Brown were named All-ESIAC Honorable Mention. Zorn, Telo, Nally, Brown and Wyatt Richins were chosen to play in the ESIAC All-Star game.

The Worcester Prep girls also had an outstanding season, but fell to rival Saints Peter and Paul in the ESIAC tournament semifinals. Sophie Brennan was chosen First-Team All-ESIAC, while Molly Soule was chosen Second-Team All-ESIAC. Both girls were chosen to play in the ESIAC All-Star game.

The school held its Winter Sports Awards last week and honors were handed out to several players. For the boys’ varsity, Telo was named MVP, Richins was honored with a Coach’s Award, and Zorn was named Most Improved. For the boys’ junior varsity, Brenner Maull was named MVP, Rick Townsend earned the Coach’s Award and Zach Wilson was named Most Improved.

For the girls’ varsity basketball team, Brennan was named MVP, Soule earned the Coach’s Award and Jordie Loomis was named Most Improved. For the girls’ junior varsity team, Olivia Bescak was MVP, Caroline Pasquariello earned the Coach’s Award and Sarah Savage was named Most Improved. For the cheer team, Lauren Dykes earned the Coach’s Award, Rachel Berry was named Most Improved, and Hannah Arrington was named Most School Spirited.
