OCEAN CITY- The Ocean City Recreation and Parks Department’s adult indoor soccer league concluded last weekend with Kirby’s Pub edging the River Soccer Club to claim the championship.
In the first round of the playoffs last Friday, Sunsations edged Renob, 5-4, in overtime, while Brazil beat The Cure, 8-6. Kirby’s Pub beat River Soccer Club, 5-4, in overtime on Friday in a game decided by penalty kicks, serving as a precursor of sorts for the title game. Also on Friday, Brazil beat Sunsations, 8-5.
In the semifinals last Saturday, River Soccer Club cruised past Brazil, 8-2, setting up a dramatic final with Kirby’s and a rematch of the 2014 final. River Soccer Club beat Kirby’s last year in the title game, but this year, Kirby’s prevailed, 3-2, in a tight game to take the championship and earn a berth in the St. Patrick’s Indoor Soccer Tournament that gets underway next week.
