Berlin Annexation Effort Moves Ahead

BERLIN — Plans for a Royal Farms in Berlin continue to move forward as the annexation process begins.

The Berlin Planning Commission approved adding the property owned by Stephen and Karen Black at the intersection of Friendship Road and Route 50 to Growth Area 1 in the town’s comprehensive plan. Now that that action has been taken, the property owners can request annexation into the town.

“Our intent is to go forward with an annexation we believe will be beneficial to the town,” said attorney Joe Moore, representing the Black family.

Moore said there were plans to build a Royal Farms where the Arby’s is located now once the property was annexed.

“It adds a nice commercial use to the existing boundaries of the town,” he said.

Moore said the Maryland Department of Planning had no adverse comments regarding the addition of the property to the town’s growth area.
