Decatur Track Teams Strong In Bayside Meet

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s indoor track teams turned in strong performances at a Bayside meet in Snow Hill last week with top 10 finishes in several events.

On the girls’ side, Jenna Reimer finished second in the 1,600, while Christina Romano was fifth in the 300. In the 3,200, Jenna Reimer was second, while Peyton Dunham finished sixth overall. In the 400, it was Brigitte Ardis finishing seventh. In the 800, it was Rachel Savage finishing fifth for the Seahawks.

The Decatur girls also scored well in the field events. Romano was second in the high jump, while Bethany Williams finished sixth. Khalin Wise finished ninth in the long jump and also finished sixth in the triple jump. Jillian Mitrecic was third in the pole vault. The Decatur girls also finished strong in the relays, coming in 10th in the 4×200, fourth in the 4×400, and third in the 4×800.

The Decatur boys also enjoyed a strong meet with top finishers in several events. Jackson Mumford was fifth in the 300. Jack Reimer was seventh in the 3,200, while Javier Hernandez was eighth. Mumford also finished third in the 500. Ruben Ortega finished seventh in the 55 Hurdles. Hyun Chun finished third in the pole vault for Decatur, while Jacob Ciurca was fifth. In the shot put, Justin Longest was eight for Decatur. In the relays, Decatur finished eighth in the 4×200, first in the 4×44 and fourth in the 4×800.
