OCEAN CITY — A West Ocean City man faces burglary and other charges in Queen Anne’s County this week after allegedly first burglarizing a residence in Worcester County and later being taken into custody after a nine-hour standoff with police in Queen Anne’s County.

Brandon Borradaile, 25, was being held Tuesday on a $150,000 bond in Queen Anne’s County after a four-day spree that began with an alleged burglary and theft of a motor vehicle in West Ocean City and concluded with an attempted burglary and standoff in Queen Anne’s County on Monday.

Around 6:30 a.m. on Monday, Maryland State Police troopers in Queen Anne’s County were dispatched to a residential community in Stevensville after a neighbor reported suspicious activity at a residence. The caller told police about an unfamiliar vehicle observed in the driveway and a suspicious man walking around the house.

When troopers arrived on the scene, they observed broken glass from a sliding glass door at the back of the house, indicating a possible illegal entry. When troopers made verbal command for Borradaile to exit the home, he allegedly refused to cooperate with police and barricaded himself inside the residence.

Troopers identified a blue Toyota Avalon in the driveway as a stolen vehicle. The blue Avalon had been reported stolen during a burglary at an unoccupied, local residence on Inlet Road last Friday. The Avalon was the same vehicle found in the driveway of the Stevensville home on Monday morning. Additional charges are pending upon further investigation of the Ocean City burglary.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Monday, the Maryland State Police Special Tactical Assault Team element entered the Stevensville residence. MSP troopers, with the assistance of deputies from the Queen Anne’s sheriff’s department, established a perimeter and called for the Special Tactical Assault Team and the MSP Hostage Recovery Team negotiators. The MSP Avation Command responded to assist, along with the MSP K-9 unit, the Office of the State Fire Marshal, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the Chestertown Police Department and the Kent Island Fire Volunteer Department.

Borradaile was eventually arrested without further incident. There were no injuries sustained in the incident.
