Worcester Girls Jump Out To 3-1 Start

BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s girls’ varsity basketball team got its season off to a fast start this week with four games in six days including three wins against just one loss.

The Mallards opened the season with a 80-23 rout of Gunston last Wednesday, followed by a 48-28 loss to Sussex Tech last Friday. Against Sussex Tech, Grace Tunis led the Mallards with 10 points.

Back in action on Saturday, the Worcester girls defeated Delmar, 47-13. Molly Soule led Worcester with 12 points, while Sophie Brennan and Karlie Southcomb each scored 11 and Leigh Lingo added 10. On Monday, the Worcester girls routed visiting Chincoteague, 57-6. Brennan led the Mallards with 14 points, while Tunis scored 11. Soule and Southcomb each scored eight points in the rout. Worcester faces Greenwood on the road this afternoon before a pair of home games against St. Thomas More and Delmarva Christian to close out the first portion of the season before the holiday break.
