OC Flag Football Playoffs Underway

OCEAN CITY- The Ocean City Recreation and Parks Department Fall Flag Football League playoffs got underway this week with four teams advancing to the winner’s bracket.

The Bull Assassins routed Refresh Media, 46-0, in the opener on Monday. Steve Monroe ran for a three-yard touchdown and also threw a 60-yard TD pass to Tyler Boyle. Boyle also had returned two interceptions for touchdowns. Brandon Ball had two touchdown runs and also threw a 52-yard touchdown pass to Kyle Swayngim.

In the second game, Eastside Mafia beat Speed Kills, 30-13. Ron Strickler got Speed Kills off to a fast start with a 66-yard touchdown pass to J.J. Johnson and a three-yard TD pass to Joe Holland for an early 13-0 lead, but it was all Eastside Mafia the rest of the way. Eastside’s Ray Taranto threw touchdown passes to four different receivers, including Adam Rones, Chris Pucci, Shamael Stanley and Markell Purnell as the Mafia pulled away for the 30-13 win.

The Greene Turtle beat Seaquest, 18-3, in another first-round game. John Maniatty got the Turtle on the board with an 28-yard field goal and Bart Talbert made it 9-0 on a seven-yard TD pass to Linwood Harmon. Seaquest got on the board with a field goal by Pat Spicer to cut the lead to 9-3, but the Turtle added another field goal by Maniatty and a 28-yard TD pass from Talbert to Dan Kauffman to secure the 18-3 win.

Kirby’s Red Onion beat Fogle’s Environmental Services in the nightcap, 39-12. Greg Lasinski got Kirby’s on the board with a four-yard TD pass to Darryl Walker, but Fogle’s answered with a field goal by Kelly Sullivan. After another Sullivan field goal, Kirby’s connected on four TD passes from Lasinski to Justin Fiedler, JR Emmanuele, Barry Snowden and Brian Sensenig. Lasinski also ran for a three-yard touchdown as the Red Onion advanced with a 39-12 win.
