In his column, “The Boardwalk Parade,” Editor Dick Lohmeyer wrote, “Mr. Dan Trimper gets as much pleasure out of watching the youngsters ride the amusements as the youngsters do themselves. And much to the chagrin of others interested in the business, Dan still continues to give away scores of free tickets to kids every night.”
An ad for Showell’s Block on North Division and the Boardwalk read, “Another First For Ocean City. Bowling Alleys. Featuring completely automatic pin setting. Open all day and evening. Year round. 8 alleys duck pins.”
Miss Joanne Richardson was available at “Atlantic 9-9478” for Beach Baby Sitting Service.
Elm Cottages on Elm Street were looking to appeal to the modest means types, advertising, “No frills here! Just plenty of peace and quiet, plus solid comfort. Rates geared to even the strictest budget.”
The Ocean City Golf & Yacht Club was young in these days and an ad read, “the new championship golf course is bordered by the beautiful Newport Bay and Grey’s Inlet.”
This week’s featured model in the Hess Apparel full-page ad was Nancy Lee Morris.
Serving as elected officials in the Town of Ocean City were Mayor Hugh T. Cropper and Councilmen William H. McCabe, Robert B. Jackson, John Dale Showell, 3rd and C. Ridgley Harman.
