BERLIN- Former Decatur girls’ soccer standout Tori Whigham continues to make a big impact at Francis Marion University and this week scored the game-winning goal against South Carolina State one week after being named the school’s Student Athlete of the Week.
Whigham, a key player in Decatur’s long run of continued success, is now a sophomore at Francis Marion in South Carolina. Last week, she was named the school’s Student Athlete of the Week after turning in a remarkable game for the Patriots against Northern Kentucky. Whigham got Francis Marion on the board with a goal in the ninth minute to stake the Patriots to a 1-0 lead. She then assisted on two late goals by teammates to finish with four total points, tying a career high.
On Tuesday, Whigham scored the eventual game winner against South Carolina State University on a tap in with just over eight minutes remaining in the game. The score was tied at 1-1 before Whigham netted the eventual game winner.
