BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s boys’ varsity soccer team blanked visiting Holly Grove, 5-0, on Monday to run its win streak to five games and improve to 6-1 on the season.

The Mallards have now won five straight games in impressive fashion after an 8-0 loss to Indian River way back on September 3. Since that loss, Worcester has reeled off five in a row including three shutouts. During the streak, the Mallards have allowed one goal in two other games and have outscored their opponents by a combined 24-2.

On Monday, Worcester got on the board early on a goal by Tate Shockley assisted by Owen Nally. Aria Zia-Shakari added another goal in the first half on an assist by Brendan Miller to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. In the second half, the Mallards applied relentless pressure on the Eagles’ goal with several near misses through the early portion of the half.

Worcester finally broke through with just over 19 minutes remaining in the second on a goal by Patrick Petrara, who fired a shot past the Eagles’ keeper off a carom during an unsettled situation in front of the Holly Grove goal. Shockley picked up his second goal of the game later in the second and Elio Telo rounded out the scoring for Worcester with a late goal to complete the 5-0 win.
