Up And Down First Week For Mallards

BERLIN- It was an up and down first week for the Worcester Prep boys’ varsity soccer team with a split in its first two games of the season.

The Mallards opened the season last Wednesday with a 7-0 shellacking of Eastern Shore Independent Athletic Conference (ESIAC) foe Gunston on the road. On Friday, the Worcester boys found themselves on the opposite side of a rout, falling to Indian River, 8-0, at home in a non-league match last Friday.

Goalkeeper Charlie Pritchard recorded eight saves during the loss to the Indians. Persistent rain washed out the Mallards’ home game against Holly Grove on Monday. The Worcester boys will face Gunston at home on Friday afternoon before traveling to Delmarva Christian for a road game on Monday.
