Fatal Accident On Route 90

BERLIN — A local man was killed in a single-vehicle accident early Tuesday morning when his vehicle left the roadway along westbound Route 90 and struck a tree.

Around 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Maryland State Police troopers were dispatched to westbound Route 90 near St. Martin’s Neck Road for a reported single-vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, troopers determined a 1997 Ford F-150 had left the roadway and struck a tree. Still inside the vehicle was the driver, identified as Christopher Patrick Doyle, 31, of Berlin, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

An MSP reconstructionist was brought to the scene and further investigation revealed Doyle was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered fatal injuries as a result of colliding with the tree. Westbound Route 90 was closed from 5:30 a.m. until about 9 a.m., when it was reopened for normal traffic operations.
