Attorney Inducted

OCEAN CITY – At its annual convention this week in Ocean City, the Maryland State Firemen’s Association (MSFA) inducted local attorney Michael Farlow into the MSFA Hall of Fame.

Farlow, a fire fighter and EMT with the Snow Hill Volunteer Fire Department and a lifetime member of the Pittsville Volunteer Fire Department, has served as the attorney for the Maryland State Firemen’s Association since 2005. Farlow also serves as a director of the MSFA Foundation. In 2004, he was named Firefighter of the Year for the Pittsville Volunteer Fire Department, and in 2005 served as President of the Wicomico County Volunteer Firefighter’s Association.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to belong to two great fire departments. One of my earliest memories is riding in a then new engine to the Ocean City parade. To go from that little kid in awe of a new fire truck to receiving this honor is truly humbling, but it’s really a testament to the dedication and commitment of all my fellow fire fighters and their families,” said Farlow, a candidate for Worcester County State’s Attorney.

Hospital Recognized

SALISBURY — Peninsula Regional Medical Center (PRMC) in Salisbury has been recognized by Premier, Inc. for reducing preventable hospital-acquired conditions and readmissions, as part of the federal Partnership for Patients initiative.

As a member of Premier’s HEN, PRMC is one of just two Maryland hospitals and among only 35 hospitals across the U.S. to be honored with a Citation of Merit for the Premier Partnership for Patients Award for early success in reaching its reduction goals.

“Participation in this initiative reinforces our commitment to reliably deliver an exceptional care experience to our community,” said President/CEO Dr. Peggy Naleppa. “We’re proud to receive the Premier Partnership for Patients Award as we continue down our path of population health management, which includes reducing HACs and readmissions.”
