Mallards Edge Easton, Remain Unbeaten

BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s girls’ varsity lacrosse team remained unbeaten last week although they faced one of their toughest challenges of the year with a 13-11 win over visiting Easton on Wednesday.

The Mallards improved to 9-0 on the season with the narrow win over Easton last Wednesday. The Worcester girls faced Sussex Tech yesterday on Senior Day in a game played too late to be included in this edition. The current senior class for the Mallards is huge and equally impressive and will likely be remembered as one of the most prolific at Worcester. Among the seniors honored yesterday were Meg Lingo, Claire Dorey, McKenna Shanahan, Lilly DiNardo, Laney Messiter, Kristen Shriver, Allie Greer, Sarah Arrington, Maura Smith, Frankie Willing, Cynthia Delaney, Alissa Talbert and Maddie Pilchard.

The Worcester girls wrap up the regular season next Tuesday with a game against rival Saints Peter and Paul on the road. The Mallards edged the Sabres, 9-8, back on April 2 in one of their toughest challenges of the season. Worcester will start the Eastern Shore Independent Athletic Conference (ESIAC) tournament as the top seed with a semifinal at home next Wednesday.
