Decatur Rebounds With Gritty Win Over Lions

BERLIN- After dropping its first two games of the season in an invitational tournament last weekend, Stephen Decatur’s boys’ varsity lacrosse team was back in action in the Bayside Conference on Tuesday and got back in the win column with a gritty 5-2 win over Queen Anne’s.

The Seahawks had been dominating at times on their way to a 6-0 record, including a 13-12 win on the road over Easton last Wednesday. However, the Decatur boys dropped a pair of games during the South River Invitational on the west side of the Chesapeake last weekend, falling to host South River, 15-5, and Bel Air, 11-5.

The Seahawks were back in action with a tough road game against Bayside North power Queen Anne’s on Wednesday and gutted out a 5-2 win to improve to 7-2 on the season. Seahawk keeper Will Hastings and the stingy Decatur defense kept Queen Anne’s off the board for three quarters, while the offense scored just enough to pull out the tough 5-2 win.

The Seahawks play host to Wicomico at home this afternoon, but the travel to another Bayside North power Kent Island on Saturday. Decatur gets Wicomico again on Monday on the road, followed by another Bayside South game on the road against Bennett next Wednesday.
