Parks To Receive Annual Berlin Award

BERLIN — The Berlin Lions Club this week announced local resident Doug Parks has been named as the recipient of the prestigious Berlin Award for his tireless efforts on behalf of the community over the years.

The 49th Annual Berlin Award Night will be held at the Berlin Lions Club on April 24 with cocktails followed by a dinner. The evening will conclude with honoring Parks, who has been named the 2014 Berlin Citizen of the Year by the club. Parks has given a tremendous amount of time and talent to the community throughout the years and richly deserves the annual honor, according to a Berlin Lions Club release.

Meanwhile, the keynote speaker during the annual dinner will be David Briddell, a retired United Methodist Minister with 40 years of combined service as a local church pastor and as an executive with the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church and the National Council of Churches in New York City.

The cost for the event is $23 per person and includes cocktails and dinner. The Lions Club is urging all civic-minded persons as well as the Berlin business community to turn out to make the event a success and to honor Parks and to hear the keynote address delivered by Briddell.
