BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s boys’ varsity baseball team ran into a buzz saw on Tuesday, falling to Bayside South rival Parkside, 5-0, in a game in which they were no-hit.

The Seahawks were near perfect in their first two games, beating Pocomoke, 10-0, and Mardela, 11-1, without allowing a hit to jump out to a 2-0 record. On Tuesday, the Seahawks had the tables turned on them, getting blanked and only getting four runners on base, none of whom got a hit. Parkside’s Hunter Parsons was dominating for much of the contest and Kyle Skilling closed it out as the Rams came away with the 5-0 win.

Decatur had an early opportunity when Nick Bennett walked and moved over to third. However, Bennett was stranded right there as the Seahawks couldn’t push him across. That was as close to the plate as Decatur would get for the rest of the afternoon as Parsons continued to mow down the Seahawk hitters.

Meanwhile, Parkside broke it open in the top of the second, scoring three times to take control of the game. A double followed by single put runners on the corners with one out. After a walk loaded the bases, Parkside picked up its first run in the inning with a long sacrifice fly to center. A base hit up the middle scored the second run and a third scored on a bases-loaded walk to stake the Rams and Parsons to a 3-0 lead. Parkside would add two more in the fourth to seal the 5-0 win.
