Decatur Girls Rout Parkside, 14-5

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s girls’ varsity lacrosse team put some distance between themselves and their rivals in the Bayside South with a couple of big wins this week.

After beating Bayside North power Kent Island, 13-4, in the season opener last week, the Seahawks settled in for a pair of big games against Bayside South foes. The Decatur girls demolished Bennett, 18-0, last Friday, Layla Fowler scored three goals and dished out two assists. Sammi Quilter, Cassidy Remmell and Payton VanKirk each scored three goals against the Clippers.

The Seahawks were back in action on Tuesday against familiar rival Parkside at home and jumped all over the Rams for the 14-5 win to improve to 3-0 on the season. The Seahawks travel to Bayside North’s Cambridge-South Dorchester this afternoon before returning for a home game against Wicomico on Monday. The Seahawks will then face two more Bayside North teams on the road at North Caroline and Kent County next week. The Decatur girls’ will host their own invitational tournament on April 12.
