WEST OCEAN CITY- Young local wrestlers from the Eastern Shore Intensive Wrestling Club (ESIWC) turned in strong performances at the Maryland State Wrestling Association Youth Championships in Westminster last weekend, collecting a pair of state titles and placing highly in other classes.

The ESIWC, under the direction of Coach Keith Tobin and based in West Ocean City, provides young wrestlers with training all year long in an effort to provide them with a foundation for future success. Club members have competed in tournaments all over the mid-Atlantic region throughout the fall and winter and have brought home more than their share of hardware, but the big event of the year was the MSWA State Youth Championships last weekend in Carroll County and the local wrestlers turned in some of their best performances yet.

Jagger Clapsadle, a Stephen Decatur Middle student and West Ocean City resident, won the state championship in the under-12, 65-pound class, sweeping four matches including the final by a narrow score of 1-0. Anthony Caruso won the state championship in the under-12, 85-pound class. Clapsadle and Caruso were among the first members of the ESIWC. Noah Reho finished third in the under-10, 70-pound class, while Nico D’Amico finished fourth in the under-10, 65-pound class.
