Therapist Completes Training

BERLIN — Christina Kappes, co-owner of Back in Action Physical Therapy of Ocean Pines, has recently been certified in the treatment of Lymphedema, a condition in which fluid collects in the arms and/or legs. Symptoms may include the feeling that your clothes or jewelry is too tight or you may feel like you have less flexibility in your hands, wrists or ankles. Lymphedema typically occurs following the removal of lymph nodes which sometimes occurs during cancer treatment.

A Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) is a post-graduate certification that trains therapists in manual techniques to remove or re-route excessive fluid, resulting in a reduction of the size and weight of the limb. This reduction in limb size leads to improved comfort, increased freedom of movement, and a better quality of life.

Back in Action Physical Therapy of Ocean Pines is co-owned and operated by Christina Kappes and Sandra Kappes. The office is an out-patient orthopedic clinic that specializes in manual therapy, the treatment of lymphedema, Parkinson’s Disease, pre/post rehabilitation of joint replacements, sports injuries, and neurological conditions (stroke rehabilitation).
