Decatur Swimmers Improve to 8-0

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s girls’ varsity swim team cruised past Milford, 123-43, on Tuesday to improve to 8-0 with just three meets remaining in the regular season.

The Decatur girls took first in several individual events and in the relays to outpace Milford, 123-43, on Tuesday. Marley Wooten came in first in the 200-meter freestyle and also finished first in the 100-meter butterfly. Carly Deickman finished first in both the 200-meter individual medley and the 100-meter breaststroke.

Madison Tinus also had a big night in individual events, finishing first in both the 100-meter freestyle and the 50-meter freestyle. In the relays, Decatur’s team of Hailey Williams, Deickman, Wooten and Tinus finished first in the 200-meter medley relay. In the 200-meter freestyle relay, Decatur’s team of Wooten, Williams, Kailey Mihavetz and Rachel Bourne finished first. Finally, the team of Marley Rakow, Bourne, Deickman and Tinus also finished first in the 400-meter freestyle relay.

With the win on Tuesday, the Decatur girls improved to 8-0 on the season with just three meets remaining on the schedule. The Seahawks were scheduled to face Cape Henlopen on the road on Thursday, followed by a “home” meet with Kent Island at the Pocomoke YMCA next Thursday.
