Decatur Wrestlers Enjoy Strong Week

BERLIN- Fresh off its success in the War on the Shore tournament last week, the Stephen Decatur varsity wrestling team enjoyed a solid week this week, finishing fourth overall in a tournament in Southern Maryland and beating Queen Anne’s, 57-16, in a Bayside Conference match.
The Seahawks traveled to Lackey High in Southern Maryland last week to participate in the highly competitive Glenn Jones Charger Classic. The Seahawks finished fourth overall in the impressive field with 146 total team points. Mount St. Joseph was first with 216, Lake Braddock was second with 182 and Archbishop Spalding was third with 153, just seven points better than the Seahawks.
Decatur’s Andy McKahan finished second in the 113-pound class, while Ethan Eibl finished second in the 220-pound class and Nick Bennett finished second at 152. Other Seahawk wrestlers to place in the tournament included Caleb Massey at fifth place in the 285-pound class, Robert Kaminsky in sixth place at 106, Andrew Borradaile in seventh at 160, T.J. Scafone in eighth at 120 and Jared King in eighth at 170.
Decatur also picked up a nice win against Bayside North’s Queen Anne’s. Picking up wins for the Seahawks were Dillon Goggin (132), Tyler Van Sice (145), Nick Bennett (152), Andrew Borradaile (160), Nevin McIntosh (170), Jared King (182), Ethan Eibl (220), Josh Lawson (106), Robert Kaminsky (113), Andy McKahan (120) and T.J. Scafone (126).
