Lower Shore Teams Earn High Seeds In States

BERLIN- The state playoffs brackets were announced this week with Decatur and many of the Lower Shore fall sports teams earning high seeds in their respective tournaments.
In the newly configured 3A-South region, Section I, Decatur’s boys’ varsity soccer team earned a number-two seed and a first-round bye. The Seahawks will face third-seeded Northeast at home next Tuesday in its first postseason matchup. Bayside South’s Bennett earned the number four seed in the 3A-South and will play fifth-seeded Huntingtown on Friday. Northern of Calvert County is the top seed in the 3A-South.
On the girls’ side in the 3A region, the Decatur girls earned a number-four seed in Section I regional and faced Northeast in the opening round at home yesterday in a game played too late to be included in this edition. If successful yesterday, the Decatur girls will face top-seeded Huntingtown next Tuesday. Bennett is the third seed in the sectional and will face Northern in its opener.
In 2A-East region tournament, Parkside is the second seed in Section II and will face the winner of the game between Kent Island and Queen Anne’s. Easton is the top seed I the region and will face the winner of the game between North Caroline and Wicomico.
On the girls’ side of the 2A-East bracket, Parkside is the top seed in Section II and will face the winner of the game between Kent Island and North Caroline. Easton is the number-two seed and faces the winner of the game between Queen Anne’s and Wicomico.
In the boys’ 1A-East region, Pocomoke is the second seed and will face Crisfield in its opener. Snow Hill is number-four and will face number-five Washington. The Snow Hill girls are the top seed in the 1A-East region and will face fourth-seeded North Dorchester. Mardela is seeded second and will face number-three Cambridge-South Dorchester.
