OCEAN CITY- Over 160 runners and hundreds more walkers participated last week in the Making Strides 5K, part of a month-long series of Pink Ribbon breast cancer awareness events in and around the resort, on a picture-perfect day on the Boardwalk.
Produced by OC Tri-Running and Making Strides against Breast Cancer, the annual event began and ended on the Boardwalk at the Inlet. For the record, Mark McCormack of Hummelstown, Pa. won the 5K, finishing in 18:51.5. Alex Sterling of Salisbury was second, John Tursline of Ocean View was third and Bobby Hammond of Berlin was fourth. Another notable local top finishers included Mark Shipley of Ocean City (6th), John Moody of Salisbury (8th), Brody Shockley of Ocean City (9th), Christina Romano of Ocean Pines (12th), Jose Carrasco of Salisbury (13th) and Colin Green of Salisbury (14th).
