BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity golf team captured the Bayside Conference championship this week, topping Kent Island, 410-442, in the title match in Queenstown on Tuesday.
The Seahawks continued their impressive season-long run at the River Course at the Queenstown Golf Links with a win over Kent Island in Bayside championship on Tuesday. The Seahawks finished in 410, led by Matt Kristick’s 75. Andrew Urban shot 82, Delaney Iacona and Brooks Holloway each shot 83 and Danny Parker finished in 87. Kent Island shot 442, led by Chase Kelm’s 76.
Meanwhile, Decatur also took the first leg in its annual Ryder Cup tournament with neighborhood rival Worcester Prep last week, taking three of the scramble format matches and tying in a fourth. Iacona and Kristick topped Worcester’s Billy Brittingham and Rylie Doyle; Urban and Holloway beat the Mallards’ Derek Wilgus and Jon Ruddo; Parker and Adam Melson topped Jason Cook and John Meakin; and Teri Adelhart and George Eppard-Annis halved their match with Worcester’s Reid Carey and Thomas Polk.
