Casino Posts Gains Over Last September

BERLIN — Maryland’s four operating casinos, including the Casino at Ocean Downs in Berlin, continued to show significant revenue increases in September, according to Maryland Lottery figures released this week.
Overall, Maryland’s four operating casinos generated $65.3 million in September 2013, driven largely by the Maryland Live casino in Anne Arundel County, which accounted for $50.4 million of the state’s entire casino gross revenue for the month. Maryland Live, which operates 4,341 slot machines and 174 table games, saw its revenue increase by over $18 million, or 58 percent, from September 2012. It’s important to note Maryland Live has added table games since last September.
The Casino at Ocean Downs generated just over $5 million in gross revenue in September, representing an increase of over $190,000, or about 4 percent over last year. The Casino at Ocean Downs’ 800 slot machines turned in a gross average per day of $212.29. In August, the Casino at Ocean Downs enjoyed its best month ever at just under $6 million in gross revenue. An expansion project that would allow the Berlin casino to add table games is currently making its way through the county planning process.
The Hollywood Casino in Perryville in Cecil County generated $6.6 million in September, which is up about $625,000, or 10 percent, over the same month last year.
The newest casino at Rocky Gap generated $3.1 million in gross revenue in September.
