Seahawk Golfers Stay on Big Roll

BERLIN- Decatur’s varsity golf team stayed on a roll this week, sweeping two matches to extend their overall lead in the Bayside South standings while filling out the ranks on the individual conference scoring averages.
The Seahawks bested the field at Great Hope last Friday, finishing with a team-low score of 155. Washington, which handed Decatur its only loss of the season thus far two weeks ago, finished at 171. Andrew Urban led the field at Great Hope with a 37, which earned him the medal for the day. Matt Kristick finished with a 38, Delaney Iacona came in at 39, and Danny Parker and Brooks Holloway each finished at 41.
At Nutter’s Crossing on Tuesday, the Seahawks continued the momentum, finishing with a team-low score of 151. Washington was a close second at 155, while Bennett finished in 171. Kristick finished with a tournament low score of 34 and earned the medal. Parker was second at 37, while Urban, Iacona and Holloway each finished in 40.
After 10 matches, the Seahawks maintain their firm grip on first place in the conference with a low of 11 points. In the scoring system, a win counts for one point, while a second counts for two points, etc. Washington is currently in second place with 19 points, followed by Bennett with 32.
In the individual standings, Urban leads the conference with a low average of 38.5. Washington’s Chase Benton is second with a 39.1 average, while Kristick is third with a 39.6 average. Iacona is averaging an even 40 for the season, while Parker sits at 40.3 and Holloway sits at 41.7.
