Decatur Harriers Finish Strong in Home Meet

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity cross-country teams turned in strong performances in the Bayside Conference meets they hosted last week with each finishing in third place among the schools entered.
Decatur hosted a cross-country meet last Wednesday and the team results in the boys’ and girls’ competitions were nearly identical. Kent Island won the boys’ meet with a low team score of 25, followed by Cambridge-South Dorchester at 59 and Decatur with 65. In the girls’ meet, Kent Island finished first with 30 team points, followed by Cambridge-South Dorchester with 56 and Decatur with 71.
The Decatur boys had six individual runners finish in the top 25, including Jake Gaddis, who came in fifth. Kevin Herbert was 10th, John Niedfeldt was 12th, Jake Eisenman was 21st, Cameron James was 23rd and Parker Harrington was 25th.
On the girls’ side, Chloe FauntLeroy turned in the best individual performance, finishing in ninth overall, while Katie Collins was 11th and Alison Alvarado was 14th. Other Seahawks to finish in the top 25 included Alexandra Tushup (19th), Jordan Klebbe (22nd), Kayla Lorance (23rd) and Meya Chilengi (25th).
