Glenn A. Baublitz
BERLIN – Glenn A. Baublitz, Sr., 67, died peacefully at his home in Berlin on July 1, 2013.
Born in Baltimore, MD he was the son of the late Albert E. Baublitz and Helen M. Hodges. He is survived by two sons; Bryan Neil Baublitz and his wife Sandy and their children Bryan Jr. and Evan and Glenn A. Baublitz, Jr. two daughters, Heather Cummings and Linsey Acevedo. Also surviving is a brother, Charles Dennis Baublitz and his wife Lisa, and their two children, Justin and Jessica.
Mr. Baublitz served in the U.S. Army from 1965-1967 and also spent one year in Vietnam. After completing his service he returned to Baltimore, MD and later moved to Berlin in 1988. He also served in the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department for fifteen years as an EMT, EMS LT., EMS Capt. and assistant chief engineer.
Services were held. John A. Emler
John Anthony Emler, 79, of Harpers Ferry, went home to be with the Lord peacefully Thursday, June 27, 2013.
Born June 12, 1934, in New York City, N.Y., he was the son of the late John Francis Emler and Bernice Staingville Emler.
In 1996, John retired from the Carnegie Institute, Department of Terrestrial Magnetism, in Washington, D.C., after 19 years of service. He also worked at the University of Maryland and the Goddard Space Flight Center.
In his retirement, he was an accomplished gunsmith and owned Big John’s Gun Shop, where he was well-known for his quality shells. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, enjoyed archery, was an expert marksman, and a firearms safety instructor.
In his early years, he was a semi-professional baseball player and was recently honored as a player at the Bowie Baysox Stadium. He was a volunteer coach for the Babe Ruth Baseball League for many years.
He was a friend to all he met and never met anyone with whom he could not strike up a friendly conversation. He loved his church family at the Gospel Chapel Assembly of God, but most of all, he delighted in his love for his family.
John is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Elaine Kearney Conner Emler; one son, John C. Emler and wife, Patty, of Dagsboro, Del.; two daughters, Dawn M. McGee of Fenwick Island, Del., and Cynthia L. Deakyne and husband, Lee, of Smyrna, Del.; one stepson, Martin Weaver, and wife, Amie, of Frederick, Md.; one stepdaughter, Stephanie Baker, of Martinsburg; one brother, Edward Emler and wife, Carolyn, of Fairfield, Conn.; one sister, Gloria Barthelmes, of Garden City, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren, Steven and Caryn Deakyne, Sean R. Emler, Michael Weaver, Matthew Weaver, Bethany Astrayka, David Huston, Nathan Astrayka, Samantha Huston, and Emily Astrayka; four great-grandchildren, Cohen Weaver, Saige and Cayden Carter, and Amelia Deni Weaver; as well as many beloved brothers- and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Deni Weaver, and his son-in-law, Paul Baker.

Carl W. Johnson
OCEAN CITY — Carl Winfield Johnson, 71, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2013 at his residence on Clark Road in West Ocean City.
He was born in Baltimore on June 13, 1942 to the late Winfield and Dorothy Johnson. He is survived by his brothers, Al and Skil Johnson; his sister, Pat Johnson; his sister-in-law, Susan Johnson; two nephews, Chris and Kevin Johnson; and a niece, Christy Stutzel.
Carl’s career was in the plumbing industry. He worked for W.W. Harmon, Max Trappe Plumbing Services and O.C. Services of West Ocean City for a number of years.
Carl was a member of the original group of surfers who started surfing in Ocean City in the spring of 1964.
A Memorial Service is planned at the Inlet to take place in September.
Marguerite “Sis” Roberts
BERLIN — On June 14, 2013, Sis Roberts died at the age of 93 after a lengthy battle with dementia.
Sis is the widow of John E. Roberts Sr. (BCFD) and mother of John E. Roberts Jr. (Mary), Marguerite Roberts (Fred Christian) and Marie Ellison (Billy). She is also survived by grandchildren, John E. Roberts Jr. and Jason Ellistion, and great grandchildren, Aaron and Austin Ellison and Rachel Roberts.
Sis was loved and cared for by her family at Calco’s Assisted Living in Quantico, Md. Sis could not share in family celebrations, holidays or surprises at the beach for so long. She lost all her precious memories to her terrible disease. Her family remembers a king, warm, caring and funny mother. She was the last of strong women of the Bedford, Langford and Roberts families. Her spirit is with the sandpipers dashing among the waves now. God gives, God takes away, blessed be God forever.
