Community B5

The Appalachia Service Project is a Christian ministry that strives to help people in Appalachia who are unable to make home repairs. The youth mission trip leaves Ocean Pines on June 22 for a week in Evarts, Ky. Thirty youth and 13 adult advisors will make the trip. The trip is jointly sponsored by Community Church at Ocean Pines and Wilson and Zion United Methodist Churches of the Bishopville Charge. The local 7-Eleven store on Route 589 donated 10 cases of water toward supplies for the trip. Above, from left, are Louise Lassiter, adult advisor for youth mission trip; Carrie Toomey, 7-Eleven sales associate; Kristen Hovance, field consultant for 7-11 Inc.; and Patrick Spicer, 7-Eleven manager.
