Cape Halts Mallards’ Win Streak at 10

BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s girls’ varsity lacrosse team had its nearly season-long 10-game winning streak halted this week with a 9-6 loss to old rival Cape Henlopen on Tuesday.

After losing it first game of the season to Garrison Forest, 19-11, way back on March 28 and then ran off 10 wins in a row culminating with a 19-8 win over ESIAC rival Saints Peter and Paul last Thursday. However, the Mallards streak came to a close on the road against Cape Henlopen on Tuesday in a game played in cool, drizzly conditions.

Cape led Worcester, 6-4, at the half in the relatively low scoring game and held on in the second half for the 9-6 win. The Mallards face Sussex Tech on the road this afternoon in the regular season finale, but will host the ESIAC semifinal and final next week.
