New Coordinator Appointed
BERLIN – Atlantic General Hospital recently named Darlene Jameson, a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator, to the role of coordinator of their Diabetes Outpatient Education Program.
Jameson, who became a diabetes educator in 2008, has been with the American Diabetes Association-recognized program since that time. Jameson has provided education and counseling for nutrition and diabetes in the community for the past 17 years. She served as the Director of Nutrition Services at Atlantic General for 12 years before joining the Diabetes Outpatient Education Program. She frequently speaks at community events, writes articles for local publications and is involved with the Tri-County Diabetes Alliance.
Delicatessen Opens In OC
OCEAN CITY — After a year of planning and four months of construction on the corner of 63rd Street and Coastal Highway in Ocean City, Rosenfeld’s Jewish Delicatessen will be opening its doors for business on Monday, April 29.
Warren Rosenfeld, a retired Washington, DC lawyer, businessman, former restaurant owner, and an Ocean Pines resident for the past five years, is the founder of the project, the largest shareholder of the business, and will be its managing member. Jeff Osias, a 20-year fixture as the executive chef of the DiFebo’s restaurant group in Bethany Beach, has been hired as the executive chef and general manager. Tammy Dubin, general manager of Parkway Deli in Silver Spring, Md. for the past 15 years, is the manager of the restaurant. SoDel Concepts, which owns nine restaurants in the resort area, has been the project’s consultant since October and will continue in that capacity. Other local investors are also involved with the project, which research indicates is the only traditional Jewish delicatessen within a two-hour drive of Ocean City in any direction.
Combined with a small amount of inside seating, there will be approximately 50 seats under cover, and another 50 seats in an uncovered picnic area. Parking for customers will be found on two lots located on the bayside block of 63rd Street, with one lot located behind the deli building and another being part of the T-Shirt Factory’s lot on 63rd Street, part of which is being rented to Rosenfeld’s.
Rosenfeld’s will offer sit-down wait staff service, take out service, platters, catering, deliveries and a grocery-like menu of bagels, whole challah and rye bread loaves, and lox, sliced meats, cheeses, smoked fish, and deli salads sold by the pound for enjoyment at home.
The delicatessen will be authentic, although it will not be strictly kosher. The expansive menu includes an all-day, full breakfast menu, as well as full lunch and dinner menus. Large portions and huge deli sandwiches will be the delicatessen’s trademark.
Firm Named Provider
SALISBURY — Local engineering & architectural firm George, Mile & Buhr, LLC (GMB) has received approval from The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) as a Technical Service Provider.
NFWF is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to the preservation and protection of our nation’s wildlife habitats, species, and ecosystems. Locally, through the Chesapeake Bay Stewardship Fund, NFWF aims to “accelerate local implementation of the most innovative, sustainable and cost-effective strategies to restore and protect water quality and vital habitats within the Chesapeake Bay watershed.”
Currently, GMB is working with the Towns of Laurel, Del. and Bethel, Del. to implement stormwater retrofit projects through the NFWF Program.
