Marshals Locate Wanted Suspect In Pa. Town

OCEAN CITY — U.S. Marshals last week located and arrested a Pennsylvania man wanted in Ocean City in connection with the sexual assault of a minor on vacation in the resort in late June.

In a release this week, the U.S. Marshals announced they had located a fugitive identified as Remington Hedden, 18, of Carbondale, Pa., in his hometown last Thursday. Hedden was being sought by Ocean City Police and Worcester County authorities in connection with the sexual assault of a juvenile in late June. In June, the OCPD investigated an allegation of a rape and sexual assault of a juvenile in the resort.

After an investigation, a warrant was issued in Worcester County for Hedden’s arrest in January. The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office requested the U.S. Marshals Service assist in locating and arresting Hedden. The U.S. Marshals Service Middle District of Pennsylvania Task Force based in Scranton, Pa. learned recently Hedden was living in the Carbondale, Pa. area.

Last Wednesday, Deputy U.S. Marshal’s out of the Scranton office, along with task force personnel, located and arrested Hedden on Jeffrey Street in Carbondale. Hedden was taken into custody without incident. The warrant issued in Worcester for Hedden’s arrest charged him with second-degree rape, second-degree assault and second- and fourth-degree sex offense.

However, he has not been formally charged in Worcester according to a search of the Maryland Judicial Case Search. Following his arrest last Wednesday, Hedden was turned over to Lackawanna County authorities for processing and now awaits court proceedings concerning his extradition to Maryland to face the charges related to the alleged incident in June in Ocean City.
