OCEAN CITY — Although no official confirmation has been received, multiple sources close to the ongoing investigation are confirming today authorities now believe a local man’s death on Saturday was the result of a homicide.

Over the weekend, the Ocean City Police Department announced it was investigating an unattended death after a local man was found unresponsive outside a downtown bar early Saturday morning and was later declared deceased at Atlantic General Hospital.

Around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, police and paramedics responded to the area of Somerset Street in reference to a male individual who was found unconscious on the street outside the Harbor Inn bar. Police and EMS arrived at the scene and located an unresponsive male.

The male individual was taken to AGH where he was pronounced deceased. The male has been identified as Michael Eric Post, 39, of Ocean City.

Officially, Ocean City Police are currently investigating this incident as an unattended death, but reliable sources report a suspect is being sought. The suspect reportedly left the scene after an altercation of some sort took place and was later apprehended.

The name of the suspect is not being reported by this publication until official word comes from the OCPD. Attempts to obtain more information from the OCPD have not been successful today.

The deceased’s remains were taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy to determine the manner and cause of the victim’s death. Sources indicate that report has been released to the OCPD and that charges could be forthcoming as soon as mid-week.

The Dispatch will provide more information as it becomes available.
