Fatal Balcony Fall In OC Investigated

OCEAN CITY — Police are investigating an apparent balcony fall on North Canal Street on the bayside in the area of 36th Street that resulted in the death of an unidentified adult female.

Around 3 a.m. on Tuesday, Ocean City Police responded to a 911 call for help at a condominium building on North Canal Street in reference to an individual who had apparently fallen from a third-floor balcony. Officers arrived and located the deceased body of an adult female lying on the ground on the west, or bay side, of the St. Croix condominium building. The 41-year-old victim’s name has not been released pending the notification of next of kin.

According to a local resident on the street, the third-floor penthouse from whence the victim apparently fell is typically quiet, but loud music and partying were heard throughout the day on Monday. Police detectives are investigating the circumstances. The deceased will be taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

Tuesday’s early morning incident was the second reported fatal balcony fall in the resort this year.
