Elizabeth V. Sheroke

BERLIN — Elizabeth V. Sheroke, 82, of Berlin, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012 in the Berlin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on Nov. 6, 1929 in Newboro, Pa., the daughter of the late Water Sheroke and Helen Molek Sheroke.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Sheroke, and sister, Helen Ondrish.

Elizabeth was a member of St. Mary’s Star of Sea R.C. Church in Ocean City.

She is survived by her children, Gabriel Berkovich and wife, Terre, of Spokane, Wash., Jerome Berkovich of Los Angeles, Marlene Suzuki and husband, Makoto, of Los Angeles, Darlene Brown and husband, Steve, of Berlin, and Charlene McPherson of Chambersburg, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and brothers and sister, Gertrude Shirilla of New Salem, Walter Sheroke of Cleveland and Theodore Sheroke of Cleveland.

Friends were received in Dearth Funeral Home in New Salem on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. and on Monday, Sept. 17, 2012 until 9:30 a.m. when Panahida was held in the funeral home followed by a Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, New Salem, with Rev. Fr. Jerome G. Botsko officiating. Interment followed in Mount Macrina Cemetery, Uniontown.

Parastas was held at 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

Gladys Ewan

TAMPA, Fla. — Our beloved Gladys Ewan passed away on Friday, Sept. 14, 2012. She led a full and vibrant, jam-packed life filled with love, laughter and generosity.

Gladys was born in Millville, N.J. to James and Emma Dunham on Dec. 30, 1922. She was the second of five children.

She was happily married to Kenneth M. Ewan, Sr. for 52 years at the time of his death in 1997. Together, they resided for most of their lives in Newark, Del. and summers in Ocean City. They built their dream home in Englewood. Fla. Since 1997 she resided in Sun City, Tampa and Clearwater, Fla.

She is survived by siblings, brother James Dunham and his wife, Gladys, of Woodstown N.J., sister Gloria Brown of Morrisville, N.C., brother Albert Dunham and his wife, Polly, of Pinehurst N.C., and sister Doris Rieck and her husband, Don, of Salem S.C.; her two children, son Kenneth M. Ewan, Jr. and his wife, Jane of Emerald Isle, N.C., and daughter Wendy Leigh and her husband, Ken Silbert, of Tampa, Fla,; her six grandchildren, Michael Ewan of Burlington, Vt., Laura Ewan of Washington DC, Gregory Ewan of Wilmington, N.C., Bradley Ewan and his wife, Brandice Durkin of Los Angeles, Calif., Emma Silbert of Tampa, Fla. and Gillian Silbert of Tampa, Fla.; and one great grandchild, Eliot Ewan of Los Angeles, Calif.

Her greatest achievements were winning the crown and title of Mrs. Brookside 1960 and Mrs. Delaware 1960, though she was equally proud of the titles of sister, mom, mommy, mother, g-mom, grandmom and Nana.

A service honoring and celebrating her life will be held at Tampa Unity, Horatio St, Tampa Fla., 33609 at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 23 with a light reception after in Fellowship Hall.
