Community Center Opens In Church

OCEAN CITY — The newest community resource for Worcester County is now accepting registrations for programs starting this fall, as the Red Doors Community Center at St. Paul’s By-The-Sea Episcopal Church offers classes for children and adults in a wide variety of areas including creativity, wellness, education and philanthropy.
The mission of The Red Doors is to provide opportunities for enrichment in mind, body, and spirit to children and adults of the community. Located on 3rd Street just off the Boardwalk in Ocean City, The Red Doors is positioned to bring together the resources of downtown Ocean City and provide a gathering place for the talented professionals of this area to offer their knowledge and expertise in the form of workshops, classes and events.
The Red Doors is offering micro-grants to individuals who have an innovative idea to help their communities and schools through our Dish It Out meal-based micro-grant events.  The Red Doors is building a local network of Little Free Libraries to help promote literacy. Within the next few weeks, the first Little Library will be installed on 3rd Street in Ocean City, with the first Berlin "branch" to follow.

On Oct. 20, The Red Doors is hosting a Builder’s Day Event so that individuals and families can bring materials to “upcycle” and build a branch for their own neighborhood with the help of carpenters and volunteers.
Ever want to try the Olympic sport of fencing?  How about taking violin or guitar lessons?  Want to enroll your child in a cooking class, ballet, art history, jazz, or a sewing crafts workshop? What about learning Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Argentine Tango, Swing, Foxtrot, Rumba, or Cha Cha with your partner while your kids are being babysat on site for free?  The Red Doors offers these and so many more unique programs to connect and grow our community.  You can build an electric guitar from scratch, paint plein-air landscapes, learn to make jewelry, fuse stained glass, take Pilates, enroll in a life changing Health and Wellness program, learn to use a sewing machine, or participate in a spirituality themed Book Club.  For babies and preschoolers, The Red Doors has Kindermusik classes, baby sign language, Mommy and Me ballet, and Storytelling Yoga.
The Red Doors has partnered with Coast Kids of the Assateague Coastal Trust to offer environmental science classes for homeschoolers and preschoolers. The Red Doors is also partnering with the Worcester County Children’s Theater Workshop to offer acting and stagecraft classes for children.  Starbucks of Ocean City and The Red Doors are teaming up to provide free Job Skills workshops tailored to student and adult populations.
