Lower Shore America For Jesus Rally Set For Salisbury

SALISBURY — Before the massive America For Jesus gathering on Independence Mall in Philadelphia, Sept. 28-29, a Lower Shore America For Jesus Rally will be held at 4 p.m. on Aug. 25, at New Dimensions Church in Salisbury.

America For Jesus is a national solemn assembly where people of all cultures will gather to pray for America. So far, 34,000 churches are participating. It will take place in the cradle of America’s freedom, where the Declaration of Independence was signed, the Constitution was debated and ratified, and the Liberty Bell resides.

The Delmarva rally on Aug. 25 will lead corporate prayer in conjunction with the Philadelphia event. The rally’s theme is “Many Churches, One Body, America For Jesus.” It is being facilitated by Bishop Jesse Abbott of New Dimensions Ministries and Randy Walter of Shiloh Ministries to bring regional churches together to pray.

“Every great move of God has been preceded by his people coming together in unity,” say the organizers. “Assembling to pray for the nation has a trickledown effect. If we would see our churches on the Eastern Shore revived and the spiritual atmosphere over our peninsula transformed, we must pray. Why wait until something bad – or worse – happens?”

America For Jesus seeks a spiritual – not a political – solution to the nation’s plight, evidenced by a weak economy, catastrophic weather and natural disasters.

“We’re not following the elephant and we’re not following the donkey, we’re following the Lamb,” says Bishop Anne Gimenez of the Rock Church of Virginia Beach, which is organizing the event. “No man is going to save us now. We’re beyond men. It’s important who’s in the White House, but the White House can’t save us.,If money could be spent to get us out of this mess, it’s been spent on the brightest, most brilliant minds.”

Coming 40 days before the national elections, America For Jesus occurs at a strategic time. It is supported by almost 100 national Christian leaders, listed on the event Website, AFJ2012.ORG. Information on buses and parking is also available at this site. All America For Jesus activities are free.

People who attend the lower shore rally are invited to bring shofars and friends to raise up a shout of praise, thanksgiving and intercession. Those who stay for the potluck supper after the rally are encouraged to bring a side dish or dessert. Ethnic foods are welcome. Meat and beverages will be provided.

Information packets, which include handbills and a DVD suitable for church announcements, are available at [email protected] or 410-641-3953.
