NEW FOR TUESDAY: Heavy Fishing Day In White Marlin Open;

OCEAN CITY — After just 10 boats ventured out to face rough seas on the first day of the White Marlin Open on Monday, the action should really heat up today with 243 of the registered 253 boats out in the canyons off the coast in search of a potential million dollar fish.

Less than optimal weather conditions, high winds and rough seas kept nearly all of the 253 boats registered in the 2012 White Marlin Open at the dock on Monday as just 10 boats recorded their first fishing day. Angler Ronnie Hall fishing aboard the “Keep Er Wet” was the first on the leaderboard with a 56-pound tuna temporarily worth $159,000.

However, the leaderboard will likely be filled up on Tuesday as 243 of the registered boats are fishing today. The scale at host Harbour Island officially opens at 4 p.m. today and the drama will likely start unfolding shortly thereafter.

All week The Dispatch will provide daily updates, changes to the leaderboard, lots of pictures and other tourney news of interest.
