BERLIN- The Berlin Little League 10-11 All Start completed their dream season last weekend, beating Brunswick, 8-2, to accomplish the rare feat of repeating as state champions.

The Berlin 10-11 team went undefeated throughout the post-season, capturing both the District 8 championship and the Maryland State Championship, which culminated with an 8-2 win over Brunswick in the title game. Last year, the same basic team competing as 9-10-year-olds went undefeated to win the District 8 championship and the Maryland State championship to reach the East Region tournament before falling in the semifinals.

Competing as 10-11-year-olds this year, the Berlin repeated the feat, winning the District 8 championship and the state championship. However, last weekend’s state championship win is the end of the line for the 10-11 Berlin All Stars because Little League does not offer a regional championship in that age bracket.

Berlin pitcher Hayden Snelsire was dominant in the championship game, allowing just four hits and two runs. Snelsire also helped his own cause at the plate, driving in three runs. Other key hits during the championship game were turned in by Jack Rosenberg and Eli Saulsbury. Kevin Beck, Tristan McDonough and Billy Wheatley all scored runs in the title game.

Beck went 2-4 at the plate and scored twice, Snelsire went 2-3 and drove in three runs, Matt Kinsey went 1-3 at the plate and drove in two runs, and Wheatley went 1-3 and scored twice. Manager Cameron McDonough reminded his team that repeating as District 8 and Maryland State champions next year won’t be good enough. Next year’s team will be eligible to compete in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa. if they continue their post-season dominance.

“We are so proud of this team, which has continued to get better and has unlimited potential,” he said. “I look forward next year to seeing this team in Williamsport.”
