Song Of Summer Voting Begins

OCEAN CITY — The Town of Ocean City announced Tuesday it has opened voting to the public to choose the official Song of the Summer for 2012.

After receiving more than 50 original entries, contest administrators chose the top three songs and are now asking the public to vote for the winner. Listening and voting can take place either at www.facebook.com/OceanCity or www.ococean.com/SongofSummer.

The top three Song of Summer finalists selected are Michael Butler’s Ocean City, John Garshnick’s In the OC and Chuck Conjar’s Ocean City Days.

“We are thrilled to narrow down our selections to the final three and encourage all of our visitors to vote for their favorite song,” said Mayor Rick Meehan. “We were extremely pleased by the many entries that mentioned the special place Ocean City has in everyone’s summer memories. We cannot wait to find out what song our fans choose as the summer anthem of 2012.”

Public voting will end on July 22. The official winner will be announced on July 23. The contest winner will win the opportunity to have the song produced and recorded in Ocean City as well as perform the song at Sunfest 2012.
