Worcester Boys Have Up and Down Week

BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s boys’ varsity lacrosse team had an up and down week this week, sandwiching wins over ESIAC rival Salisbury School around a loss to traditional Baltimore powerhouse St. Paul’s at home last Saturday.

Last Thursday, the Mallards cruised past conference rival Salisbury School, 11-3. Worcester scored early and often to set the tone in the game and pick up the big conference win on the road. Harrison Brennan led the Worcester assault with three goals and an assist, while Christian Bruder scored two goals. Ryan McGuire and Jake Emche each had one goal and two assists.

On Saturday, St. Paul’s School, traditionally one of the powerhouses in the Baltimore metropolitan area, visited Worcester and beat the Mallards, 12-5. Worcester hung with the Crusaders for much of the first half, which ended in a 3-3 tie. However, the deep St. Paul’s team got it cranked up in the second half, outscoring the Mallards, 9-2. McGuire led Worcester with a goal and two assists, while Henry Hastings scored a goal and contributed an assist. Gordon Abercrombie and Chris Adkins each contributed single goals.

Back in action again on Monday, the Mallards beat Salisbury School, 11-4, for the second time in three games. McGuire led Worcester with two goals and five assists.
