Convention Center Director Hired

OCEAN CITY — Lawrence (Larry) Noccolino has been appointed to the position of Director of Ocean City’s Roland Powell Convention Center.   Noccolino’s appointment was approved at the April 10 meeting of the Ocean City Mayor and City Council.  His appointment comes following the resignation of Rick Hamilton in late November 2011 and a national recruitment campaign conducted by the Town’s Human Resources department.

As Executive Director of the Valley Forge Convention Center, Noccolino is responsible for the daily operations, sales, marketing and human resources management of a convention center and catering operation supporting an attached hotel, restaurants and nightclub.   Prior to joining the Valley Forge Convention Center in 1993, Noccolino was General Manager of Country Club operations in Pennsylvania, Florida and Maryland.

A Maryland native, he and his wife, Patricia, have been frequent visitors to Ocean City for many years and are local property owners.

“We are delighted to have such a well-rounded, qualified individual accept this important appointment for the Town of Ocean City.  Larry’s extensive management and customer service experience will serve our Convention Center clients and employees well.  We look forward to his leadership as we continue to strategically position the Convention Center as a top venue and Ocean City as a top destination for quality events that provide an economic benefit for the community and stakeholders,” said Mayor/Interim City Manager Rick Meehan.
