BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s boys’ varsity lacrosse team rebounded from its first loss of the season last week with a pair of resounding wins over Bayside South opponents.

After opening the season with two wins, including a big victory over old rival Parkside, the Seahawks took their first loss of the season last week against Bayside North power Kent Island. Decatur fell behind early and trailed, 8-3, at the half against the Buccaneers. The Seahawks closed to gap to 8-5 in the third, but Kent Island went on a couple of big runs to push the lead to 12-5 later in the third and 14-6 early in the fourth. Decatur did not roll over, however, and scored three late goals to cut the margin to 14-9, but that was as close as the Seahawks would get.

Last Friday, Decatur rebounded quickly from the first loss, thrashing Bennett, 17-6, on the road. On Monday, the Seahawks stayed on the winning track with a 20-1 win over Wicomico at home. Decatur jumped out to an early 5-0 lead before most of the fans had settled into the bleachers and went on a scoring binge just before the half to extend the lead to 12-0. The Seahawks continued to apply the pressure in the second half before easing off the gas and cruising to the 20-1 win to improve to 4-1. Decatur opens the second half of the season on April 11 at Queen Anne’s.
