Flounlacker Benefit a Huge Success

OCEAN CITY- In typical fashion, the resort community rallied for one of its own in a big way last weekend on behalf of a local father, coach, lacrosse player and all-around sports enthusiast seriously injured in a deer stand fall in December with thousands raised to help with his rehabilitation and recovery.

Mark Flounlacker, a local father, coach, lacrosse player, surfer and fixture at youth sports events in the area suffered a severe back injury during a fall from a deer stand in December and is on the slow, but hopeful road to recovery. Last Saturday, a fundraiser was held on his behalf at the Blue Ox in Ocean City including a donation at the door, silent auctions, Chinese auctions, DJ Rob Cee and great food and drink specials.

Flounlacker’s vast network of friends and supporters rallied in typical Ocean City fashion, raising over $25,000, which will help with Mark’s recovery efforts and lost income during his rehabilitation. Event organizer not-so “Mean” Jean Taylor, who went to high school with Flounlacker, said this week the fundraiser was a huge success.
“It really exceeded my expectations,” she said. “It was really hoping to raise around $10,000, but we went way beyond that to over $25,000.”

For those who missed the event and would like to contribute, a trust account has been established in Flounlacker’s name at Taylor Bank. For more information, call the bank at (410) 641-5111.
