BERLIN — The honorees for the 2012 Charitable Souls campaign were announced this morning.

They include Cathy Bassett, Gloria Carr, Ed Colbert, Alexis Dashield, Linda Dearing, Arnold Downing, Mary Ferry, Jim Flaig, Frank Gatley, Veronica Gatley, Bill Gibbs, Sierra Hall, Michael James, Jean Keagle, Bob Kelly, Becky Kelly, Audrey Killen, Kimberly Majus, Buck Mann, Daryl McCready & SonRise Church, Linda Pepper, Ginny Reister, Susan Runk, Michelle Schachter, Judy Johnson Schoellkopf, Christine Selzer, Mary Smith, Lou Taylor, Anita Todd, Joel Todd, Barbara Whitehead, George Whitehead and Carol Zaiser.

This year’s campaign, the latest in the ongoing awards program called The Dispatch’s Shore Stars, features a diverse group of honorees, who were selected based on their exemplary volunteer spirit and “charitable soul”, according to Publisher/Editor Steve Green.

“Last year’s honorees included an impressive group of citizens and this year’s group is no different. They are each inspiring in their own unique way,” said Green. “Each of them give through a genuine desire to better the community around them, but each distinguishes themselves in how they give. Their roles include everything from serving numerous years on foundation boards, signing checks annually to be a major sponsor at a hospital golf tourney and being the creative mind behind a widely popular Salisbury fundraiser to leading a church’s effort to improve the lives of others, creating an autoimmune disease awareness organization and volunteering for years to lead youth religious gatherings.”

According to Green, the individual honorees will be profiled in a special publication next month.

“Their stories of charitable giving and genuine volunteer spirit epitomize true generosity and we look forward to sharing their stories with the community,” he said.

The honorees will be featured in an April 13 magazine that will be inserted into The Dispatch and circulated at the awards celebration in their honor on April 24 at Fager’s Island. Tickets are available for the event and can be purchased at www.thedispatchshorestars.com or by calling 410-641-4561.

The campaign is sponsored by D3Corp, Atlantic General Hospital, Taylor Bank, the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore and The Dispatch.
